Who Am I?
I’m Joy Gulley, a Graphic Designer with experience in logo and branding design as well as email and social media marketing design, and my Bachelor of Fine Arts in Graphic Design degree from Auburn University.
I’ve always had a passion for being creative in different ways, but I especially loved drawing growing up. After realizing the chances of making a living from drawing were pretty slim, I became really interested and intrigued by Graphic Design. The last four years in the program in college have taught me so much, and I’m thrilled at the opportunity to utilize the skills I’ve learned along the way.
Looking towards the future, I’m most interested in designing logos, packaging, posters, and other facets that involve printed designs and solutions. I’m also very interested in pursuing album and book cover design if possible. Though I have experience in website and app design, something about print and packaging design makes the design process even more enjoyable and exciting.

For the Record; Capstone Project
I came up with the concept for this project and designed every element for my Senior Project in my last semester in the Graphic Design program at Auburn University. I love older music and learning about iconic figures in culture, so this idea turned into a passion project I spent six months researching and working on. This exhibit does not exist in reality, but rather everything is designed as if it were to be put on display. The images below give a few samples for each element designed: for example, I designed eight vinyl albums that include lyric books, but only two albums and lyric books were mocked up to full size while the rest of the albums are shown in their interior/exterior format.
For the Record: The Soloists of the Sixties is an exhibition dedicated to informing audiences on the thriving legacy and impact eight of the most popular artists have in popular culture.
For the Record is sponsored exclusively by the record labels that worked with each artist, and allows a complete history of each artist’s career from beginning to end. The exhibit includes large banners throughout as well as merchandise, which includes a vinyl album for each artist, stickers, and a book compiling all artists’ information and photos together. The branding and color choices reflect a nostalgic time period while modernizing them for the 21st century.
For the Record provides a unique experience in allowing younger audiences to be immersed in the past and older generations to reminisce. It hopes to inform audiences in a comprehensive but not overwhelming way, and to pay homage to the artists and time period that shapes so much of the culture we interact with.
